Purpose of the Role


To manage and execute food preparation within an assigned section of the kitchen, ensuring all dishes meet the high-quality standards of

Sangeetha Vegetarian Restaurant, while maintaining hygiene, consistency, and authenticity in vegetarian South Indian cuisine.


Key ResponsibilitiesSection Management & Food Preparation


  • Oversee the preparation and presentation of dishes in your assigned section (e.g., dosa, curry, rice, tandoor, or snacks).
  • Ensure consistent taste, texture, and presentation aligned with brand standards and recipes.
  • Supervise Commis Chefs and Kitchen Helpers in the section to ensure smooth operation.
  • Ensure all mise en place is prepared ahead of service time.


Quality, Hygiene & Safety


  • Adhere strictly to food safety, hygiene, and sanitation standards at all times.
  • Ensure proper storage, labelling, and rotation of ingredients to prevent wastage and spoilage.
  • Conduct daily checks on equipment and kitchen tools to ensure cleanliness and functionality.


Coordination & Communication


  • Collaborate closely with Head Chef and other CDPs to ensure timely delivery of food orders during peak periods.
  • Communicate effectively with front-of-house staff for special orders, dietary requirements, or allergy concerns.
  • Provide support across other sections when necessary to maintain kitchen efficiency.


Inventory & Cost Control


  • Assist in monitoring stock levels and report low inventory to the Head Chef/Kitchen Manager.
  • Help reduce kitchen waste and contribute to cost control by optimising ingredient use.


Training & Development


  • Guide and train junior kitchen staff to maintain standards and improve performance.
  • Contribute to menu development and suggest improvements based on customer feedback and seasonal ingredients.


Key Attributes & Requirements


  • Minimum 2-3 years of experience in a similar role, preferably in vegetarian or Indian cuisine.
  • Strong knowledge of South Indian dishes and preparation techniques.
  • Ability to handle pressure and manage a fast-paced kitchen environment.
  • Excellent teamwork, leadership, and communication skills.
  • Commitment to cleanliness, quality, and continuous improvement.
  • Willing to work weekends, public holidays, and rotational shifts.
  • Physically fit and able to stand for extended hours.


Job Types: Full-time, Permanent


Pay: RM2,500.00 - RM3,000.00 per month
