What We Expect | About the Role:

As a

Senior Database Administrator, you’ll lead the design, optimization, and maintenance of high-performance, real-time databases powering mission-critical applications. Your core focus will be on MariaDB, ensuring stability, scalability, and security across our systems. This is a senior-level role for someone who thrives in ownership, mentors others, and confidently drives architecture-level decisions.

Who We’re Looking For | Qualifications & Requirements:

• 10+ years of hands-on experience in database engineering, operations, or architecture.
  
• Deep expertise in MariaDB/MySQL, including:
  
• Advanced query optimization
  
• Schema and index design
  
• High availability (HA) & replication strategies
  
• Strong experience in Node.js backend APIs and how they interact with relational databases.
  
• Proven background in transaction-heavy, real-time systems.
  
• Excellent understanding of ACID compliance, data integrity, and performance bottlenecks.
  
• Comfortable operating in Linux-based server environments.
  

Added Advantage | Nice-to-Haves:

• Experience with PostgreSQL or cross-database environments.
  
• Familiarity with cloud-based DBs like AWS RDS, GCP Cloud SQL.
  
• Exposure to NoSQL (e.g., MongoDB, Redis) or caching layers.
  
• Hands-on experience with Percona XtraDB or Galera Cluster for HA.

What You’ll Be Doing | Key Responsibilities:

• Architect and manage MariaDB clusters to support secure, scalable, and high-throughput systems.
  
• Optimize query performance and advise on schema/index design for real-time workloads.
  
• Oversee backup, replication, failover, and disaster recovery strategies.
  
• Collaborate with developers to integrate clean and efficient data-layer logic.
  
• Ensure data security and regulatory compliance across regions.
  
• Lead database strategy discussions, mentor junior engineers, and advise on key system decisions.
  
• Proactively resolve bottlenecks across the data and application stack.
