Contract Type: Government Project (JKR)
Reporting to: Resident Engineer / Superintending Officer (S.O.) / Project Manager
Key Responsibilities:
1. Supervision of M&E Works
-Supervise and monitor the installation of mechanical and electrical systems such as:
-Electrical wiring and distribution systems
-Plumbing and sanitary systems
-Fire protection systems
-Air-conditioning and mechanical ventilation (ACMV)
-ICT, CCTV, PA system (if applicable)
-Ensure M&E works are executed according to approved drawings, specifications, and JKR standards.
2. Quality Control & Compliance
-Conduct regular inspections of ongoing M&E works to ensure workmanship quality.
-Verify that all installed equipment and materials conform to the required technical specifications and authorised brands.
-Reject defective materials or non-compliant installations and report to the S.O.
3. Testing & Commissioning
-Witness and assist in testing, commissioning, and calibration of M&E systems.
-Verify results and ensure proper documentation of test reports, certifications, and manuals.
-Coordinate M&E inspections with consultants, S.O., and relevant authorities.
4. Coordination and Liaison
-Coordinate M&E works with civil/structural teams to avoid site conflicts.
-Liaise with M&E contractors, suppliers, and consultants for timely execution and clarification.
-Attend site coordination meetings and report progress or issues encountered.
5. Documentation & Reporting
-Keep daily site diary/log on M&E progress, manpower, materials delivered, and site conditions.
-Submit weekly reports and non-conformance reports (NCRs) for any faulty works.
-Verify shop drawings, as-built drawings, and O&M manuals prepared by the contractor.
6. Safety & Site Cleanliness
-Ensure all M&E works follow safety protocols, especially for electrical and pressurized systems.
-Monitor proper cable routing, pipe laying, equipment installation, and panel safety.
-Report any unsafe practices to the Safety Officer or S.O.
7. Final Works & Handover
-Participate in the preparation of defect lists (snagging) and supervise rectification.
-Confirm that all M&E systems are operational and ready for final handover.
-Assist in verifying as-built M&E drawings, warranties, and handover documents.
Minimum Requirements:
-Diploma/Certificate in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering or equivalent.
-Minimum 3-5 years working experience in building M&E systems (preferably in JKR or public sector projects).
-Good technical knowledge in site installation, inspections, and testing procedures.
-Familiar with JKR Standard Specifications, MS/BS Codes, and local authority requirements.
-Able to work full-time on-site in Kedah and communicate effectively in Bahasa Malaysia and English.
Job Type: Contract
Contract length: 24 months
Pay: RM2,000.00 - RM2,500.00 per month
