Responsibility - to ensure that all cash received from customers for the day’s transactions is adequately secured from acts of misappropriation, fraud, and theft. The CSO should ensure that all cash over the Insured Limit should be transferred to the Branch Manager/Chief Cashier or banked into the respective bank accounts. Proper cash records need to be maintained to ensure proper audit trails are maintained. The CSO should ensure that all company customers are cordially treated and welcomed. It is wish of the company to enhance its image by projecting a warm and friendly atmosphere and to reflect professionalism.


The main duties are as follows:


1. To ensure all monies within the company’s premises are adequately secured and protected against theft or robbery. All cash should be kept in cashier’s drawers during business hours.


2. To hold the key of the drawer.


3. To receive all monies from the customer, ensure the amount received is accurate, and that the notes are genuine and not a forgery. Towards this end, the CSO SHOULD USE SUCH AIDS AS THE NOTE COUNTING MACHINE AND THE ULTRAVIOLET NOTE SCANNER.


4. To ensure the transfer of all cash from the drawer to the Chief Cashier/Branch Manager during lunch breaks and at the end of the day. The cash should be balanced against the end-of-day records of the company.


5. To ensure all the days’ vouchers are complete by checking the details as required by AML/CFT and filing away the day’s vouchers.


6. To maintain proper cash records to accurately reflect the cash transactions of the company.


7. To conduct remittance transactions properly.


8. To receive amendment/cancellation of transactions properly from customers.


9. To comply with all provisions of the Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) of the company.


10. To report the branch operations related with administration by reporting to Branch Manager; and


11. To perform any other related functions as directed by the management.
